Dr. Gustavo Armando Vela Marín
He graduated from medical school at UANL (Monterrey, Mexico). He later concluded his
ophthalmology residency at the first ophthalmological center ever founded in Latin America
(Hospital de la Luz in Mexico City). In this same hospital, he completed the fellowship:
Microsurgery of the Anterior Segment of the Eye. This means that he is an expert in cataract
surgery and intraocular lens implantation.
He is currently certified by the Mexican Council of Ophthalmology and is an active member of
the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive
Surgery, the Mexican Society of Ophthalmology and the Ophthalmological Association of
Reynosa. He has also approved the examinations of the International Council of
Ophthalmology.
Dr. Vela performs 350+ cataract surgeries every year. His experience, knowledge, sense of
responsibility, respect and professionalism has positioned him as a Top Surgeon in Mexico.
