What causes a hernia?
All hernias are caused when an internal part of the body pushes through an opening or weak spot generating pressure in an organ or tissue.
What are the symptoms?
The most common symptoms are a lump, pain, and swelling in the affected area. In some cases, a hernia is detected during a physical examination, ultrasounds, or x-rays.
How long will recovery be?
All patients are different and times can vary. Open surgeries will require about 6 weeks, while laparoscopic or robotic surgery 2 weeks.
