The myringoplasty consists of sealing the perforation with a small piece of fat obtained
from behind the earlobe or using a gel-like material. The surgery is done using general
anesthesia.
Tympanoplasty
A tympanoplasty is a surgical operation that involves reconstructing the eardrum using a
graft from under the skin. In some cases, an implant can be placed to reconnect the
bones and improve hearing. The procedure is performed by making small incisions in the
ear canal or just behind the ear.

How do I prepare for an eardrum repair surgery?
Your otolaryngologist will perform a physical examination before the procedure, you will be asked to not eat or drink at least 8 hours before the procedure. Tell your surgeon If you’re taking medications or supplements.
What can I expect during recovery?
During recovery, you will need to use a bandage and try to prevent water from entering your ear. Additionally, do not blow your nose and if you need to sneeze, do it with your mouth open.
