Do I need to have my wisdom teeth removed?
Not everyone needs to remove their wisdom teeth. Candidates should consider removing them if they’re not growing properly and are damaging the surrounding teeth and gums. We recommend you to refer to one of our professional doctors for an evaluation to determine if you are a candidate for surgery.
Is the surgery painful?
If the surgeon decided to numb your mouth you will only feel pressure around the area. If anesthesia is used, you will be asleep during surgery and won’t feel anything. Is common to experience some pain and swelling after surgery, depending on the extent of the procedure your doctor may prescribe pain medication.
Can I brush my teeth after surgery?
You should avoid brushing your teeth for the first 24 hours. The following days you may gently brush them. We recommend that you consult your health specialist to find out when it’s safe to brush your teeth normally.
Do I need a special diet after surgery?
For the first three days, its recommended to eat soft foods, like soups, yogurt or pasta. Avoid drinking with a straw, as sucking may loosen the blood clots covering the incision area.
How long will recovery be?
Recovery is different for everyone. Most patients can return to work after 2 or 3 days, with a full recovery around 2 weeks later. Taking care of your mouth will improve recovery times.
