About 6 miles south of Creel lies Lago de Arareko, a calm body of water that takes its name from the Raramuri word for horseshoe. Surrounded by dense forests of pine and oak, the lake is an oasis for outdoor activities, offering activities such as boating and picnicking. Along with this, its closeness to the Raramuri community of San Ignacio de Arareko allows visitors to know the town and get local arts and crafts.
