Arriving by land
Most patients who drive to Los Algodones arrive using Highway 186, at the US side of the
border you’ll find many parking lots that will let you safely park your car, they have
enough space to accommodate vehicles of all sizes, RV’s, large trucks and even 5th wheelers,
with overnight parking available and prices ranging from $5 - $10 USD per day. Just remember
that if you decide to drive into town you will need valid driver’s license and you should
check with your car insurance if you’re covered in Mexico, and if they don’t you can easily
acquire 1-day insurance at around $10 USD a day.

How to move around the city
It doesn’t matter if you prefer to drive or to walk; it’s really easy to move around the
city, but, if you want to drive more than 20-30 kilometers south of the border, you will
need to get a temporary import permit at the customs office.
Arriving by air
There are several options available if you decide to fly to Algodones.
The closest airport is located in Yuma, AZ. (YUM), from there you can take a taxi to the
border that might cost around $30 USD, but you can also request an Uber, just remember to
schedule your pick up ahead of time, as the airport doesn’t have taxi stands.
