Mazatlan makes a strong first impression with its magnificent golden beaches that stretch as
far as the eye can see, its baroque architecture, and mouth-watering cuisine; it’s not hard
to realize why so many people choose Mazatlan as their healthcare tourism destination.
Our recommendation is to make El Malecon your first stop, because it goes thru the city,
allowing you to check out a big part of Mazatlan. You can start your day with a simple
stroll, the beach, or go to one of the many restaurants in El Malecon. Visit the Basilica of
the Immaculate Conception or go straight to Mazatlan’s aquarium, and if you visit during
February you’ll get to participate in the annual carnival!
The beaches of Mazatlan are really distinct from each other, offering visitors a different
side of the sea; Check out Playa Olas Altas for excellent waves to surf; but if you want a
relaxing evening with your family go to Playa Sabalo, which has much calmer waters; however,
the bustling heart of Mazatlan is in La Zona Dorada, where most restaurants and vendors can
be found.
Mazatlan is the perfect destination for those looking for excitement, we already mentioned
surfing, but did you know that there is a long tradition of cliff diving in the city? In "El
Clavadista", a 45 feet high platform, you can admire the skilled experienced divers that
jump into the ocean every day, remember to carry a tip for them, they’ll really appreciate
it.
We couldn’t talk about Mazatlan without mentioning shrimp, after all, it is the shrimp
capital of the world; you’ll be surprised at just how many ways shrimp can be prepared, we
recommend having a taste of spicy aguachile, which has lime juice, onions, hot salsa and
cilantro; and don’t worry, you can still find all of the Mexican classics like tacos and
pozole.
You can pay with US dollars, Credit/Debit cards on most restaurants and establishments. If
you pay with cash the exchange rate will be lower, it’s better to visit a foreign exchange
agency, a bank or an ATM to turn your currency into Mexican pesos.
Mazatlan has something different to offer to everyone, it doesn’t matter if you’re looking
for excitement, relaxation, or a mix of both, you’ll find it in Mazatlan. Your medical
tourism adventure is ready to begin, schedule your visit to one of our clinics today!
Mazatlan continues to be a very safe destination, but to enjoy your vacation to the fullest
we recommend keeping the same common-sense precautions that you use when traveling to a new
city.
