Chichén Itzá
This ancient Mayan city is one of the most famous archeological sites in Mexico, it once was a center for culture and astronomy, as many of its buildings are aligned with the seasons and the stars, it’s also recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and its one of the seven wonders of the world.
The main highlight in the site is the Temple of Kukulkan, commonly known as El Castillo, this massive pyramid was once a site of worship and an astronomical calendar. The site also features other famous buildings such as the great ball court, the observatory, and the warrior's temple
Cenotes
Cenotes are natural sinkholes that formed when a cave collapsed and then got filled with water, they were important to the Mayans as sites of religious importance. Nowadays, cenotes are tourist attractions, where some offer the opportunity for different aquatic activities which include swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving. Many of these cenotes offer additional activities and facilities near them to enjoy, some popular cenotes near Cancún include the Cenote Dos Ojos, Cenote Ik Kil, Cenote Azul and Cenote Sac Actun
Isla Mujeres
Isla Mujeres is a small island located off the coast of Cancún, it features beautiful beaches, calm waters, places to practice snorkeling and scuba diving and different places on land to enjoy.
To reach it you can catch a ferry from the port of Cancún that will take you to the island from there you can visit places like the playa norte (north beach), which offers calm shallow waters, the perfect place to swim and enjoy the sun. If you go towards the south of the island you will be able to admire stunning views from the Caribbean as well as exploring a small Mayan temple to the goddess of love, fertility and medicine.
