The Rhinoplasty “nose job” is a surgery in which a certified plastic surgeon changes the shape
and size of the nose by working on the bone, cartilage, and skin. It’s usually performed for
cosmetic reasons, to improve breathing, or to correct birth defects.
The rhinoplasty is usually a same-day procedure and it’s done under general anesthesia. Before
surgery, the certified plastic surgeon will examine the entire face to develop the most
appropriate nose for the patient face, as well as showing 3D images of the desire results. After
the evaluation, the plastic surgeon will determine if the patient needs an open or closed
surgery. The surgery consists of making cuts around the nostrils and sometimes across the base
of the nose, reshaping the tissues for a more pleasing and functional appearance.

Am I a candidate for rhinoplasty?
Candidates for this procedure are usually over the age of 15, and seek to improve the appearance of their nose, improve their breathing or correct a birth defect. Is the surgery painful?
You will be under general anesthesia during surgery and as such you will not feel anything. After surgery, is normal to feel some mild discomfort and swelling around the nose, your plastic surgeon will prescribe you the appropriate painkillers if needed.
Do I need a closed or an open rhinoplasty?
This depends entirely on your needs; if you need more extensive changes to get to your ideal nose you could require open surgery. Your specialist will speak with you and determine which procedure best suits you.
How long will recovery be?
Depending on the patient, they can return to work after a week or two from surgery. The swelling will continue to disappear over the course of 6 months until your new nose is fully recovered.
